Thumbs up For the benefit of the poor women...

As women, all of us have to go through the physiological process of menstruating every month. This happens to the rich and the poor, the town girl and the village girl.

The topic I want to discuss here is about the sanitary napkins we use. Those of us who are educated and who can afford, have no problems in facing this monthly cycles. But in rural areas and even in towns and cities, there are girls and ladies who do not know much about hygiene and who cannot afford to buy. They are forced to make use of clothes and this also they don't maintain hygiene.

Recently i read in the paper, that a guy in Coimbatore belonging to a poor family, was disturbed to see his wife using a cloth which was very dirty and stained and felt that something needed to be done.

So he toiled and invented a machine which is able to manufacture sanitary napkins at a lower cost. But he found that many did not come to buy them. He lost hope but his wife made use of them and also made a propaganda about it among her neighbors and friends and now even people from other countries have started enquiring about this machine.

It would indeed be a boon to the women below poverty line to be able to buy and use such products.

Applauds to that man.

Should appreciate his love for wife and motivation to produce napkins at low-cost.
If those women gets the awareness of the hygienic issues with cloth usage,
they would surely prefer this.

I have heard few stories about how the repetitive cloth usage leads to
unhealthy conditions. Hope they should avoid it and make use of this
low-price napkin.

These basic needs for the women has to be taken care of whether rural or urban. And I have seen people not disposing the used ones properly. This need to be taken care of. Women should be concerned for safe disposal of their used ones and maintain the personal hygiene and also prevent unpleasant sites on the roads.

Yes, Jayashree, some self help groups have started manufacturing such low cost sanitary napkins and government is also helping them in getting loans from banks, subisidies, etc. There is one such unit in Pattabiram. There are no brand names as such. But it very cost effective.
